Dubai to Make another Record with 1.2 kilometre Indoor Ski Slope

Meydan Group has announced to build the world’s largest indoor ski slope in Dubai ahead of Expo 2020. The phase one of Meydan One development in Dubai, encompassing Meydan One Mall, the world’s largest indoor ski slope and the largest dancing fountain is set to complete before Expo 2020, states an executive of Meydan Group.

“We estimate the project to cost between Dh25bn and Dh30bn as we aim to deliver the first phase of the master plan by 2020,” says Mohammad Al Khayat, Vice-President – Commercial and Free Zone, Meydan Group. “We are currently holding workshops while having focus not only on the retail component, but also on other attractions such as dancing fountain, indoor ski slope, an indoor sports arena of almost 250,000 square feet, an entertainment zone and a water theme park, which will be equivalent in size to Wild Wadi,” he states further.

When it comes to Meydan One Mall, only it will cover gross floor area of around 4 to 5 million square feet and will be as big as other leading Dubai malls are. The mall is designed considering the ever-increasing population of the UAE and seeing the size of other bigger malls (Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates), which remain jam packed all the time. Meydan One Mall is likely to be another superlative addition to the city that will also be the major attraction for the residents, tourists and shoppers alike. People from surrounding areas such Meydan Avenue, Horizon, Meydan One, Sobha Hartland and the Burj Khalifa district will visit it for sure.

Meydan One Ski Slope

When it comes to other attractions of Meydan One development, the world’s longest indoor ski slope that is 1.2 kilometres long seems to be the biggest attraction for the professional skiers and other snow lovers, despite the fact that Dubai already has an indoor ski slope. At the base of ski slope, there will be Meydan Arena with 8000 seating capacity and play host to sporting events, live concerts and theatrical shows.

Dubai One Residential Tower

Considering the growing population of Dubai, the developer is taking every measure to come up with the infrastructure that will meet the demand in future. 711 metres tall residential tower is also in designing stage, which can go even higher or lower, subject to Dubai Civil Aviation approval.

It is worth mentioning that you can also find a 350 room hotel and a 420 metre fountain along with a sky restaurant at 675 metres and a 360-degree observation desk at 555 metres within this development.

“We have committed to developing a multi-use destination which goes beyond expectations and will cater to every kind of person living and working here, as well as those who travel from around the world to visit,” Meydan chairman Saeed Al Tayer said in a statement.

This development is a forward thinking, which is planned and geared towards the Dubai of tomorrow.
